The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) measures the average change over time in the prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of consumer goods and services. BLS, distributed through FRED as CPIAUCSL. Monthly, seasonally adjusted, index 1982-1984 = 100. The index level, not the inflation rate.
