Total obligations on federal contract awards (award types A, B, C and D: definitive contracts, purchase orders, delivery orders and BPA calls) by every federal awarding agency where the contract's NAICS code is in subsector 237 (2371 utility system construction, 2372 land subdivision, 2373 highway, street and bridge construction, 2379 other heavy and civil engineering construction), summed over the federal fiscal year from transaction-level data reported to FPDS and published on USAspending.gov. Obligations are amounts the government committed, not outlays; de-obligations reduce the total. Fiscal years run 1 October to 30 September; only closed fiscal years are stored.
